Online casino players who love to play online roulette and online blackjack might not be able to imagine it, but casino-goers in Pennsylvania have not yet had the chance to sample the delights of such games!
Indeed, it’s only been in the last decade that offline casino gambling has been legal in the state. However, a recent change in legislation means that players will be able to experience table games from July.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has issued table games licenses to eight slots casinos state-wide, and is expected to hand out two more in the near future.
State casino officials are expecting the games, being delivered now, to bring big things to Pennsylvania. According to Bobby Soper, president and chief executive of an establishment in the area, the installation of 61 table games at his club represents a “hallmark” for the industry.
Mr Soper also believes that the new games will result in an extra 15 per cent more customers visiting games rooms, and will in turn lead to greater revenue. This claim has been made despite the fact that casinos will have to pay a $16.5m licensing fee and 16 per cent tax in the first year of play. He said:
“We have a whole new gaming product being introduced … Now you’re going to have individuals who will stay closer to home because you offer both products, and you can recapture those dollars that are leaving every day to places like Atlantic City.”
